This app has been developed for and with children taking their first steps in calculating with decimals (also called point numbers). This app puts an easy way in 10 steps how you can calculate with decimals. The app contains 10 chapters with different instruction pages alternated with 26 interactive learning exercises and 3 keys. The structure of the app is in the form of a booklet, so that the exercises can optionally be performed in a different order. The app is ideal to support the preparation of school tests and connects with Dutch primary school education groups 5,6,7 and 8. children aging from 7 up to 13)

In the first chapter the number line is explained. What is a number line? A number line is a line that all the numbers are in order from low to high. First they practiced with whole numbers to learn to understand the concept of numbers line. Then we explain that decimal numbers by list them on the number line between whole numbers. The aim of this chapter is to understand the concept of decimal numbers.

In chapter two, the student learns to understand the concept of tenths, hundredths and thousandths. We do this by comparing decimal numbers together. At first only tenths later by hundredths and thousandths. Upon completion of these two chapters, we can begin to calculate with decimal numbers.

Chapter three is begining to learning about addition of decimal numbers. First very simple with tenths and sums that are not difficult. e.g. 1 + 1.2.

At difficult summations a method to temporarily imagine places helps. This is done by multiplying the numbers in the sum of 10,100 or 1000 and later to count back the results by dividing by 10,100 or 1000. This chapter includes several exercise where this method is gradually practiced.

Chapter 5 begun minsommen and then in the same way as learning a method summs for tougher substractions in chapter 6.

In the next three chapter we focus on the relationship between fractions and decimal numbers. This gives a deeper insight into the use of decimal numbers. With decimal numbers, after all, we can express parts as with fractions. The first part (Chapter 7) is about converting fractions to decimals.

In chapter 8, the reverse is practiced like in chapter 7. Here the student learns converting decimal number to fractions.

Now the student has learned fractions to convert to decimal numbers and vice versa, the student can practice with sums which exists in both a fraction as a decimal number. Chapter 9 contains two exercises where these sums can be practiced.
